Mida Tafoya is a daughter of Christina Naranjo and a granddaughter of Sarafina Tafoya. Her sisters are Mary Cain, Mary Louise Eckleberry and Teresita Naranjo.  She learned to make pottery from her mother.  Mida is the mother of Ethel Vigil. She began making pottery in 1945. She is known for her traditional designs and classic style carving.
