Geronima Abeyta was the mother of potter Ana Salazar (Than Povi).  She began making pottery in the 1940’s.  This small plate is the only piece of hers we have come across.  It is polished on the back and the front has a butterfly pattern. The style of the design is certainly reflective of the focus of the Original Eight taking inspiration from their embroidery.  The plate is signed on the back, “Geronima Abeyta”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
