This is a very unusual bowl by Susana Aguilar.  The piece is from the 1920s and it is perfectly round and polished and painted on the outside and matte on the interior.  The outside has a high stone polish and it is painted with rain and lightning designs.  Susana’s style of painting was also so distinctive. Note how the composition of the design has an interesting placement of the lightning coming up from the base and the larger square lighting/step patterns. The shape of the bowl makes one wonder what it was made for or if it was meant to be used?  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Susana”. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
