Aguino, Martina & Diego – Carved Jar with Double Avanyu (1960’s)
Martina Aguino began making pottery in the late 1930s period. By the late 1960s through the 1970s she continued to make pottery with her son, Diego Aguino. She would make the vessel and he would create the designs. This jar is carved with a double avanyu design. They are carved into the clay and then incised with additional designs and clay slips would be added for coloration. The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. The jar is signed, “Diego and Martina Aguino”.
