7.5"w x 5.75"h

$ 800.00

Melissa Concho Antonio (b. 1965) is a daughter Gilbert and Lillie Concho and married to Daniel Antonio.  She is a sister-in-law of Frederica Antonio. This piece is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and additional red clay slip.  It is a large seedpot with a series of checkerboard red polished squares encircling the piece. They spiral down from the neck to near the base.  No, I didn’t count them all..or even the number of rows!.  Each red square is separated by a black and white rain design.  It is wonderfully intricate and eye-dazzling for its size.  Certainly what can well be called Acoma “op-art”.  The top has a feather pattern around the rim  It is signed on the bottom, “M. C. Antonio”.
