Mildred Antonio (b. 1937) is known for her traditional style Acoma pottery.  She is the mother of Melissa Antonio and the mother-in-law of Frederica Antonio.  Each piece is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black) and additional clay slips.  This jar has a round shoulder and a short neck.  The jar is painted with flowers and four animals.  There is a deer, Big Horn Sheep, antelope, and moose. Each has a heartline and that imagery is classic to both Acoma and Zuni pottery, with the heartline signifying the center or “heart” of the animal. The jar is signed on the bottom, “M. A.”.
