Antonio, Mildred – Jar with Parrots and Double Rainbow

Mildred Antonio (b. 1937) is known for her traditional style Acoma pottery.  She is the mother of Melissa Antonio and the mother-in-law of Frederica Antonio.  Each piece is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black) and additional clay slips.  This jar has a round shoulder and a short neck.  The jar is painted with two Acoma parrots and plant designs.  They are surrounded by a double rainbow.  Above the rainbow are rain clouds and below are rain and flower designs.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “M. Antonio.”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
