Mildred Antonio is known for her traditional style Acoma pottery.  She is the mother of Melissa Antonio and the mother-in-law of Frederica Antonio.  Each piece is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and additional clay slips.  This jar has a classic Acoma water jar shape with a high shoulder and fluted rim.  The jar has a wide variety of animals, each with a heartline. There are bears, elk, deer, moose, and moose!  It’s a strongly designed jar and the animals encompass the entire surface.  It’s not of then that she does pieces with such a variety of animals!  The jar is signed on the bottom and in excellent condition.
