Baca, Alvin – “Bee Hive” Jar

Alvin Baca is known for his classic melon ribbed jars. This black jar is carved with 18 horizontal ribs.  The jar is fully polished and fired black.  Alvin says that the shape was inspired by bee hives and took the vertical lines of the melon jar and turned them horizontally.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay.
