This is a classic polychrome water jar by Blue Corn.  Blue Corn began by making black-on-black pottery but it is her polychrome potter for which she is the most famous.  This jar is polished with a white clay slip and then painted.  The has a cloud design around the neck.  The body of the jar has 32 feathers.  They are painted with a black/dark gray slip and the vent of the feather on the end is ochre-colored.  Around the neck are snow clouds.  At the base of the jar there are three tadpoles and then two bands of different colored of clay slips.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Blue Corn”.  It was originally purchased in the 1970s.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
