Blue Corn – Polychrome Jar with 32 Feathers (1970s)

This is a classic wide shoulder jar by Blue Corn.  She is s certainly one of the most creative potters of her time with a varied use of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery. This jar has a low, rounded shoulder and a sloping neck.  The entire piece is fully polished cream.  There are 32 thinly painted feathers on the jar.  The ends of the feathers are highlighted with a brown clay slip.  The piece was traditionally fired.  It is signed in the clay, “Blue Corn”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
