$ 1,600.00

This is an exceptional large polychrome jar by Blue Corn.  Blue Corn began by making black-on-black pottery but it is her polychrome potter for which she is the most famous.  This jar is wide with a sloping shoulder.  It is painted with a feather pattern encircling the bowl along with a single bird tail design. The feathers are highlighted with a green clay slip, which is amongst her most sought after colors.  The bird tail panel has fine-line designs along with a green painted design. There is a single ochre-colored band painted below the shoulder.  Note the little bit of mica in the black painted areas.  This was definitely distinctive to her work in the 1980’s.  The cream-colored background of the jar is fully polished.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Blue Corn”.
