4"w x 2.5"h

$ 400.00

Blue Corn is certainly one of the most creative potters of her time with a varied use of clays and firing techniques to create her distinctive pottery.  This is one of her distinctive red pieces. The bowl is fully polished red and has a buff matte painted design.  The design is cloud, rain and wind designs. It is very tightly painted onto the bowl.  This style is called, “buff-on-red”.  The highly polished red is in contrast to the matte painted surface.  The bowl was traditionally fired to create the coloration.  The jar is signed in the clay on the bottom, “Blue Corn”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
