Borts-Medlock, Autumn – “Bees and Flowers” Carved Jar
4"w x 5.25"h
Autumn Borts-Medlock is known for her often fancifully carved pottery. This new piece is entitled, “Bees and Flowers”. It is a striking water jar shape with a high shoulder and an elongated neck. The jar has bees carved on both sides. They carved in carious levels into the clay. The wings and bodies are polished. The flowers each have polished petals. The neck of the jar is carved with cloud patterns. There is a lightning design that extends from the neck to the base that is also fully polished. The background area is both matte and micaceous. As usual, Autumn’s pottery is complex in design, clays and composition. The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Autumn Borts-Medlock”.
