This is a striking jar by Autumn Borts-Medlock.  The jar is square and fully carved.  It is amazing that it was able to survive the drying process and not crack!  The square jar is fully carved with butterflies and geometric patterns. The bodies of the butterflies have a matte mauve colored clay slip while the remainder of the piece is fully polished red.  The jar has a small neck and a small, fully polished lid.  It is signed on the side near the base.  Autumn is a sister of noted potter Tammy Garcia and the daughter of Linda Cain.  She has won numerous awards for her pottery with her creative and contemporary style of carving.
