This bowl is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired.  The bowl has a water serpent or avanyu encircling the piece. The body of the avanyu is complex with carved lightning and rain designs.  The bowl is from the 1970s.  The piece is highly polished and fired a dark black.  It is signed on the bottom, “Mary Cain”.    It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
