Cajero, Gabriel P. – Storyteller Figure in Wrapped Shawl
Gabriel P. Cajero (b. 1961) is a son of Loretta Cajero and a nephew of Ester and Joe Cajero, Sr. He learned to make pottery from his mother. This storyteller figure is made from native clay. It is sculptural in appearance and has a mother and child, surrounded by her sculptural shawl. The piece is tightly painted with native clay slips. It is a creative use of form and design. The figure is signed on the bottom, “Gabriel P. Cajero”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
