Calabaza, Diane “He’shi Flower” – Mini Polychrome Bowl (1980s)
Diane “He’shi Flower” Calabaza (b.1955) is the fifth child of noted potter Blue Corn. She is known for her miniature paintings. This is one of the only pieces of her pottery we have seen. It is polychrome painted with a mountain design on a polished gray surface. Diane rarely makes pottery and usually with her brother Kreig. The bowl is signed on the bottom in the clay, “He’shi Flower, San Ildefonso”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
