Diane “He’shi Flower” Calabaza (b.1955) is a oldest daughter of noted potter Blue Corn.  She was known for her miniature paintings and pottery.  This tile is made from native clay, stone polished, and painted with native clay slips.  The tile has an avanyu along the center of the piece.  Above are rainclouds and below are traditional Pueblo designs.  It is a detailed and well-painted piece of her pottery.  It is signed on the back in the clay, “He’shi Flower, San Ildefonso”.    It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
