Myrtle Cata was born at San Felipe Pueblo and when she married moved to Ohkay Owingeh. She learned to make pottery from noted Santa Clara potter Tina Garcia. Myrtle has been making pottery since 1985 and works primarily in micaceous clay.  This wedding vase has eight melon ribs pushed out from the sides.  It is fully polished and tan in coloration.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed, “Myrtle Cata” on the bottom.
