Chavarria, Denise – Jar with Mountain Rim and Rain Patterns
Denise Chavarria is a daughter of noted potter Stella Chavarria and a granddaughter of Teresita Naranjo. She is known for her contemporary pottery. This jar has an extended rim meant to represent a mountain. The remainder of the jar is fully carved with cloud, rain, and lightning designs. The carving is fluid and the entire surface is fully polished. The jar is fired a deep black and it is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denise Chavarria”.
