Denise Chavarria (b. 1959) is a daughter of noted potter Stella Chavarria and a granddaughter of Teresita Naranjo.  Each piece is coil built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired.  This bowl is carved with a water serpent (avanyu) encircling the piece.  It is highly polished and fired a deep red coloration. It is signed on the bottom, “Denise Chavarria”.
