Denise Chavarria (b. 1959) is a daughter of noted potter Stella Chavarria and a granddaughter of Teresita Naranjo.  Each piece is coil-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired.  This bowl has 15 flat swirling melon ribs. They each extend out from the mouth of the bowl and swirl down to the base. The bowl is highly polished and fired a dark black.  It is signed on the bottom, “Denise Chavarria”.
