Gregorita Baca Chavarria (1906-2008) was married to Juan Chavarria.  She was a sister-in-law to Frances Chavarria. She began making pottery in the 1930s through the 1990s.  This jar is very deeply carved with a rain and walking bear paw design.  It is stone polished to a high shine and fired a deep black coloration. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “G. Chavarria”.  it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
