Chilly, Nancy Ann – Long Neck Jar with Yei Figure and Mountain Designs

3.5"w x 5.5"h

$ 155.00

This is an incised long-neck jar by Nancy Ann Chilly. Nancy is one of the few Navajo pottery working today in a traditional style.  Her pieces are coil-built, incised, and traditionally fired.  Nancy is from the Four Corners Area on the Navajo Reservation.  This jar has a sharp shoulder and an elongated neck. At the top of the neck are triangular clouds and near the top of the shoulder are clouds.  There are four Yei figures encircling the jar, extending up the neck.  They are incised into the clay and each is highly detailed.  The jar was traditionally fired, then painted, then covered in pinon pitch in the traditional manner. It is signed, “NAC” on the bottom.
