This is a small incised bowl by Nancy Ann Chilly. Nancy is one of the few Navajo pottery working today in a traditional style.  Her pieces are coil-built, incised, and traditionally fired.  Nancy is from the Four Corners Area on the Navajo Reservation.  This bowl has the Sun and Moon incised on the top with openings for the eyes and nose.  There is detail in the incised designs.  The bowl was traditionally fired, then painted, then covered in pinon pitch in the traditional manner. It is signed, “NAC” on the bottom.
