Chino, Marie Z. – Bowl with Mimbres Figures (1960s)

3"w x 2"h

$ 175.00

This is a charming bowl by Marie Z. Chino.  Marie is famous as one of the revivalists at Acoma Pueblo, along with Lucy M. Lewis, Jessie Garcia, and a few others.  This bowl is thin-walled and painted with bee-weed (black). The design on the bowl is a series of seven Mimbres figures holding hands.  The figures are geometric in shape and the hands create a wavy line.  The bowl was traditionally fired so there are some very slight color variations to the white.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “M. Z. Chino”.
