This is a striking canteen by Marie Z. Chino.  The piece is from the 1970s. It sits flat and is an older pueblo-style canteen with braided handles and a rounded belly.  The canteen is painted with a Pueblo bird on the top.  It is surrounded by a lightning pattern.  The remainder is white and the piece was traditionally fired so there are slight color variations on the surface.  The canteen is signed, “Marie Z. Chino”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair but some small areas of spalling which are typical for this time period.  Certainly a classic of her pottery!
