This is a classic small bowl by Marie Z. Chino.  Marie is famous as one of the revivalists at Acoma Pueblo, along with Lucy M. Lewis, Jessie Garcia, and a few others.  This bowl is thin-walled and painted with bee-weed (black) and a red clay slip.  The bowl has rain, lightning, and plant designs.  Note the vertical checkerboard rain patterns.  THe bowl was traditionally fired so there are some very slight color variations to the white.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “M. Z. Chino”.
