Clashin, Debbie – Plainware Jar

6.5"w x 4"h

$ 400.00

This is a striking plainware jar by Debbie Clashin.  Her cousin, Mark Tahbo, was one of the first Hopi-Tewa potters to really focus on plain (unpainted) wares and using just the firing to create the design. This jar has a wide shoulder and it is fully polished.  It has been fired with sheep manure to create the dynamic blushes on the surface.  They range in coloration from white to a very deep red.  The focus on pieces like this is both on the form and the firing.  It is a visually striking jar!   It is signed on the bottom with her name and a pipe for his “Tobacco Clan”.
