Clashin, Debbie – Plainware Open Bowl

7.5"w x 2"h

$ 400.00

This is a striking plainware open bowl by Debbie Clashin.  Her cousin, Mark Tahbo, was one of the first Hopi-Tewa potters to really focus on plain (unpainted) wares and using just the firing to create the design. This wide bowl is fully polished on the inside and outside!  There is just a slight rim to the bowl.  It has been fired with sheep manure to create the dynamic blushes on the surface.  They range in coloration from white to a very deep red.  The focus on pieces like this is both on the form and the firing.  The shape and the color are dynamic on this piece  It is signed on the bottom with her name and a pipe for his “Tobacco Clan”.
