Claw, Stella Yazzie – Pitcher with Rug Weaving Implements (1998)

5"w x 5.5"h

$ 150.00

This is a classic pitcher by Stella Claw. The piece is coil-built and has a round body and a handle.  On the body of the piece are wool, a spinner, and a carding wool comb.  They are all the implements necessary to make a Navajo rug! The piece was traditionally fired to create the coloration on the surface.  After the firing, it was covered in pinon-pitch in the manner of traditional Navajo pottery.  It is signed, “Stella Y. Claw”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
