This jar by Alice Cling has a round shoulder and a short neck.  It is fully polished red and then fired outdoors.  The jar has a deep color from the smoke and fire.   The colors on this piece vary from black to a deep red.  The jar was covered in pine-pitch after the firing, a continuation of the traditional Navajo pottery when pitch was used to make the pottery waterproof. Alice has won numerous awards for her pottery and been featured in books such as “Legacy of Generations.”
