Concho, Lolita – Water Jar with Rain Designs (1979)
Lolita Concho is considered one of the Acoma revivalists in the 1960s-70’s along with Marie Z. Chino, Lucy Lewis, and Jessie Garcia. This jar is from 1979. It is a traditional shape with the very round body and short neck. The design around the neck is a cloud and thunder pattern. Below the shoulder is a fineline rain and plant design. The fine lines are beautifully painted and the jar has a very traditional appearance. It received a “First Prize” at the 1979 Deer Dancer Annual Pottery Show in Denver, Colorado. The jar is signed on the bottom, “L. Concho”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
