Coriz, Warren – Water Jar with Rain and Star Designs (2009-10)

Warren Coriz (d. 2011) was married to Ione Coriz and learned to make pottery from his mother-in-law Hilda Coriz and her brother, Robert Tenorio.  This is a classic water jar with a round shoulder and a slightly turned out rim.  The neck of the jar has a rain and cloud design. Around the body of the jar is a star pattern.  The bottom of the jar is slipped red.  It was painted with bee-weed (black) and red clay on a white clay base.  It was traditionally fired. The jar is signed near the base, “Warren Coriz”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
