Davis, Titus – Jar with Heartline Swirls and Double Moon
Titus Davis is the son of noted potter Darla Davis. He creates coil built pottery that combines the classic fine-line designs with a modern approach. This jar has a fine line pattern that encompasses the surface of the piece. There are double moons on each side. Extending out from the moon is a negative space “heartline”. Just as the heartline is used in Acoma pottery for the various deer and animals, here it is incorporated to reflect the “heart” of Acoma imagery and the classic fine line designs. The shape and designs work perfectly together. It is signed on the bottom, “Titus Davis”.
