This is one of the few miniatures we have seen by Richard Ebelacker.  Richard was known for his very large vessels so it was unusual to see one of his miniatures.  This jar is in the shape of a water jar and has a carved lightning pattern around the shoulder.  The entire piece is fully polished and fired a deep black.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Richard Ebelacker”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  Richard was the eldest grandson of Margaret Tafoya and a son of Virginia Ebelacker.  He learned to make pottery from Margaert and won numerous awards for his pottery.
