Ebelacker, Richard – Swirl Melon Jar (1970s)

Richard Ebelacker was a grandson of Margaret Tafoya and was known for his large vessels and traditional shapes.  This is a  round jar with a short neck.  It has twelve indented melon ribs carved into the clay at a swirl.  The entire piece is fully polished to a glossy shine.  It is fired a deep black.  The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Richard Ebelacker”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
