Virginia Ebelacker was the youngest daughter of noted potter Margaret Tafoya. She was known for her large vessel and highly burnished surfaces.  Thie bowl is deeply carved with oval-shaped leaf designs encircling the piece.  They represent leaves.  The entire surface is polished a deep red.  The recessed area in the carving is slipped with the traditional cream-colored clay.  The bowl was traditionally fired.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Virginia Ebelacker”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
