$ 300.00

Victor Eckelberry (b.1958) is known for his deeply carved pottery.  He is a son of Mary Louise Eckelberry and a grandson of Christina Naranjo.  He is named after his grandfather, Victor Naranjo.  He began making pottery around 1985. Naomi (b. 1961) is the daughter of Patricia Fuentes.  She met Victor in 1984 and they began making pottery together.  She was taught by her brother Lorenzo Fuentes. Victor and Naomi form their pots independently as each has special shapes. Naomi designs the pots and Victor carves the designs.  Naomi then polishes the pieces and they are fired by Victor.  This is one of the larger pieces of their pottery we have had.  The bowl is fully carved with an avanyu (water serpent).  It encircles the piece and there are cloud designs around the rim and water designs near the base.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Victor & Naomi Eckelberry”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
