This is an intricately carved and designed jar from Susan Folwell.  The jar has the opening off to one side and the shape is nearly perfectly round. The top has a series of frogs which are carved into the clay.  Near the shoulder there is also a carved band of geometric rain, cloud and lightning designs.  Note around the frogs the round bubbles which are also carved into the clay!  Below the shoulder the entire surface is fully polished and incised with “x’s”, which are a Folwell family design.  The various color and the complexity of design on this piece reflect the technical strength in Susan’s pottery!
