Helen Gachupin was a daughter of Andrea Toribio Gachupin. She never married so she had no children to carry on her pottery-making tradition. She was known for her traditional pottery and the use of traditional designs.  This small jar is a round shape and has birds on each side.  Separating the birds are cloud and rain designs. The red areas are stone polished.  The base of the jar is also polished.  It is signed on the bottom, “Helen Gachupin, Zia Pueblo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
