This bowl by Effie Garcia  is her classic shape with a narrow base and wide shoulder.  The bowl is deeply carved with a series of kiva step patterns which are separated by bird wing designs.  Note the depth of the carving and how she has outlined the design with the clay for emphasis.  The surface is stone polished and the piece is traditionally fired.
