This is a larger bowl by Effie Garcia.  It is her famous shape with a narrow base and wide shoulder.  The bowl is deeply carved with step design clouds above the shoulder and step design mountains below.  The designs connect from one to the other across the shoulder of the bowl.  Note the depth of the carving and how she has outlined the design with the clay for emphasis.  The surface is stone polished and the piece is traditionally fired to a deep black coloration.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Effie & Orville Garcia”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
