Garcia, Gloria “Golden Rod” – Large Bowl with Corn Dancers and Kosharis

This is a large bowl by Gloria Garcia is fully polished and fired black. There are four sets of male and female Corn Dancers etched into the clay.  The female dancers are highlighted with red clay slips on their shawls.  The rim of the bowl has a cloud design and small dots highlighted with blue clay.  There are four koshari faces in relief on the rim of the bowl.  Each has corn husk additions.  It is a creative and complicated piece!   Gloria’s combination of polishing and etched designs is always striking.  This piece is signed on the bottom with her Tewa name “GoldenRod”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
