This tile is part of Jason Garcia’s “Tewa Tales of Suspense” series.  Each piece is inspired by graphic novels and early comic book art.  The concept is base on the Pueblo Revolt of 1680.  This piece is dated “1694”, which reflects the period of re-conquest by the Spanish.  Here the action packed imagery shows the Pueblo warrior fighting off the Conquistadors.  Note as well the traditional two-dimensional style rain cloud in the background.  Jason has  His piece is signed with his Tewa name, Okuu Pin, which means Turtle Mountain.  This tile is hand built from native clay.  All of the colors are derived from Native clay.
