Garcia, Jessie – Bowl with Bird Wings and Clouds (1960s)

5.25"w x 4"h

$ 350.00

Jessie Garcia is one of the great names in Acoma pottery.  Between 1950 and 1970, she along with Lucy Lewis and Marie Z. Chino led the revival of Acoma pottery.  This bowl is coil built with thin walls and painted with bee-weed (black). The bowl has bird wings alternating with rain and cloud (dots) patterns.  The result is a modernist appearance to the jar.  It was traditionally fired which gives it some color variation on the surface.  It is signed on the bottom, “Jessie Garcia”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
