6"w x 6"h

$ 8,000.00

This is a complex jar by Tammy Garcia. Itis from 2004.  The jar has a round body and an asymmetric rim.  The body of the jar is carved with two large Pueblo birds on one with flowers below them.  As the jar is turned there are very thinly carved cloud and wind designs.  The neck of the jar is carved with a rainbow pattern.  The rim is asymmetric in shape and polished on the inside and the outside.  Note on the jar the depth of the carving, as well as the variety of clay colorations which include two different reds and tan.  The jar is signed on the bottom int he clay, “Tammy Garcia”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  Tammy has won numerous awards for her pottery and been the recipient of the New Mexico Governor’s award.  It’s not surprising that with the intricate nature of her pottery she makes only about ten pieces of pottery a year.  Yet each piece is unique and expands on her distinctive style and voice in the clay.
