Gonzales, Rose – Oval Plate with Rain Pattern

3.75"w x 5" long

$ 375.00

Rose Gonzales is often considered the first at San Ildefonso Pueblo to make carved pottery.  However, she also made painted pottery during the course of her career.  This small oval plate is rounded up with slight edges.  It has a rain and prayer feather pattern painted in the center.  It is signed on the back in the clay, “Rose”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  The piece has a museum mount metal stand made for it.  Rose’s legacy can certainly be seen in the work of Tse-Pe, Dora Tse-Pe, and Russell Sanchez.
