Denny Gutierrez was known for his faceted melon bowls.  This piece has a wide shoulder that slopes up to the small opening.  The jar has 16 faceted melon ribs which are separated by rounded ribs. It is a striking combination creating multiple surfaces for the light to reflect.  The jar is polished to a glossy shine.  It is from 1991.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Denny Gutierrez”.
